These criminals all commited horrible crimes and somehow got away with it. These monsters never got convicted and some were actually treated like rock stars...

Kurt Blome was a high ranking Nazi physician and scientist during the second World War. During that time he was head of Nazi's biological warfare program, and oversaw the experimentation of plague vaccines upon thousands of POWs who he purposefully subjected with lethal infections in concentration camps.

7. Werner von Braun

Werner von Braun is remembered by those in the field as an amazing rocket scientist who helped pioneer and launch America's space program. However, the man was initially a Nazi scientist known for developing the V-2 rocket. The V-2 was the world's first long-range guided ballistic missile developed during World War 2 as a weapon of vengeance designed to target Allied cities in retaliation for them bombing German cities.

6. Augusto Pinochet

Augusto Pinochet came to become the most powerful man in Chile through a military coup detat in 1973. Serving as the country's president for nearly 2 decades, he repressed and reshaped Chile as he wanted. Over 100,000 people were subjected to political imprisonment only during the first three years of his rule, many of whom were tortured and killed. Reports of state-sponsored tortures included electric shocks, water boarding, physical beatings, and rape.

5. Emperor Hirohito

Had Hitler or Mussolini been captured alive, they definitely would've been subjected to trial as war criminals. But the leader of Japan's Imperial Army, Emperor Hirohito somehow got away with a free pass.

Under his rule, the Japanese army killed millions throughout the Sino-Japanese War and World War 2.

4. Dr Shiro Ishii

Surgeon General Shiro Ishii is known as the founder and director of Imperial Japan's infamous Unit 731 which he created in 1932 in order to experiment with biological and chemical weapons. The unit had a huge facility in Japan-occupied Manchuria, disguised as a lumbar factory, and the workers jokingly called their test subjects as "logs" - which were really prisoners comprised of Manchuria's Chinese-Russian population, and captured POWs.

3. Klaus Barbie

Nikolaus "Klaus" Barbie was an SS and Gestapo member nicknamed the "Butcher of Lyon". In 1942, he was sent to Lyon in occupied France for two important assignments; to bring an end to the French Resistance which had made the city its capital, and to wipe out the Jews residing there. Barbie carried out a ruthless systematic campaign of torture, rape, and murder of French separatists as well as Jews, with the total number of deaths exceeding 14,000 people.

2. Edgar Ovalle Maldonado

Not many know about the bloody civil war that raged Guatemala from 1960 to 1996. A US backed coup in 1954 installed a ruthless military regime which led to armed uprisings by various rebel groups. The war raged on for 36 years, with the Guatemalan military regime committing countless violations of human rights.

1. Omar al-Bashir

For over 27 years, Omar al-Bashir has been Sudan's sitting president since he came to power in a military coup in 1989 that brought down the country's democratically elected government. Since then, he hasn't relinquished the position, holding on to power through rigged elections that he kept "winning" over and over again.
